THE NEW 2010 E-CLASS REVIEW

The new E-class is what makes up for the gap between the luxurious S-class and the classy C-class in Mercedes-Benz range of sedans.

The E-class range for 2010 has a totally different design from that of the past two generations of E-class. The German manufacture has gotten rid of the four oval-shaped headlights that the last two models used to have on and which was also copied by some Asian auto car makers. This is head lights have been replaced with a sexy looking four parallelogram shaped lamp and running lights that as a shape of an ice hockey making the E-class look so unique. The change also extends to the roofline that no longer has the soft shape but now as a more angular and creased more sharply now than before.

The change on this new E-class Benz go way deep inside, it has a whole new steel unibody structure and also present is aluminum in the front fenders, hood, radiator support and steering column bracket but the E-class still remains a steel intensive vehicle that why the overall is expected to increase from the 3740 pounds the E350 had. The German manufacture has said that the new E’s structure passed all the future crash legislation and enjoys a 30 percent improvement in structural rigidity.

E-class now has an overall length of 191.7 inches, 0.7 inch longer than the previous models same goes for the wheel base that measures 113.1 inches also 0.7 inch longer than the previous models while the trunk space is up 2.2 cubic feet to 19.1.

The interior is what separates the E-class from its predecessor with it’s all new look. Inside, Mercedes went for comfort and quality on board rather than flamboyance, it was all done with a blend of the classy C-class and luxurious S-class.

The column shifter, the center arm rest and the console all look like they were borrowed from the S-class also the materials quality and the LED lighting that glow at night are very close to the ones found in the more luxurious S-class.

The C-class also has the knob that control the command infotainment system the radio buttons and the instrument gauges borrowed from it for the E-class to use. The seats that have more padding and feel more supple solely belongs to the new E-class.

The German company offers two ranges of engines for E-class a 268hp, 3.5-liters v-6 and a 382 –hp, 5.5 liter V-8 and they both have what is called Blue Efficiency which is designed to lower fuel consumption by 3mpg and also reduce emission to an eco friendly level.

The new E-class now feels more alive and does not have the sluggish feeling previous E-class had. It has now been replaced with a more responsive tuning and also steering accuracy is better and more BMW-like.
